René Calvillo—a Los Angeles-based freelance film photographer—subverts non-inclusive beauty standards by capturing the uniqueness of people of all walks of life.

By focusing on representation and inclusivity of different cultures, body types, and identities, he creates realistic yet vibrant and distinctive portrayals of the world around him. René believes a portrait is more than just your face, but an embodiment of your whole being.

i know there are several layers to everyones being, but my mission is to try to put those layers into a single photograph — together.

Although he specializes in portrait and editorial photography, he also creates 35mm photo journals documenting and highlighting the juxtaposition of colors in the locations he travels to.
